Gus Miftah himself is a scholar and leader of the Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School in Sleman, Yogyakarta. Gus Miftah is a preacher graduated from the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) UIN Yogyakarta, known as the young ulama of Nahdlatul 'Ulama. He is known as the preacher of the marginalized because this preacher from Ponorogo has a different image from the dai or ustaz in general. He focuses on Gus preaching in nightclubs, localization to plus-plus salons. Not only was his place of preaching 'eccentric', Gus Miftah's style was also very quirky. The style of clothing is not even the same as the usual dai: koko, sarong and cap. Even Gus Miftah's hair is long with his trademark black blangkon which he always wears. Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman or better known as Gus Miftah was born in Adiluhur Village, Jabung, East Lampung, August 5, 1981. He is the 9th descendant of Kiai Ageng Hasan Besari, founder of Tegalsari Islamic Boarding School in Ponorogo.
