The jazz re:freshed movement was built around its weekly live residency in the heart of West London, covering the whole spectrum of jazz and jazz-influenced music - from dance oriented jazz to the various cultural interpretations: jazz fusion to brokenbeated jazz, be bop to hip hop, avante garde to Latin jazz, Afro jazz to jazz funk, jazz rock to nu soul and everywhere in-between. The Greatest Dancer is a brand new dance talent show broadcasting on Saturday Nights on BBC One and available on BBC iPlayer. Hosted by singer and presenter Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo. The show will feature a host of talent from across the world of dance from ballet to jazz, hip hop to Bollywood as they give the performances of their lives in the hope of being named The Greatest Dancer. Expect dramatic auditions, incredible challenges and remarkable live performances as dancers swing, swirl and sashay onto the stage each week. Leading the charge to discover The Greatest Dancer will be the three Dance Captains, who have a wealth of experience in dance and performance - Cheryl, Oti Mabuse, and Matthew Morrison. The Dance Captains will have the tough job of whittling down the acts that get through the audition stage, before picking who they want to mentor and take through to the live shows.

I'm Gemma. I started doing adult ballet in October 2015 (having danced as a child and taken more than 8 years off) and have become a bit obsessed. I now take ballet classes 6 times a week and am considering becoming a qualified ballet teacher. I've been on pointe for over 3 years, passed 2 exams, performed in 7 shows, danced with Wayne Sleep, attended 2 summer schools, a ballet retreat in Morocco and countless workshops and have danced at Elmhurst, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the RAD headquarters. I hope my videos will show there are plenty of opportunities for adults to dance regardless of their ability or previous experience. In addition to ballet, I've also tried out contemporary, modern, jazz and tap classes. COVID and a major hip injury have put a major dent in my ballet plans over the past 12 months and for the foreseeable future but that won't stop me dancing as often as I can.
